Snapchatting from underwater using SeaSeekers
Now there is a Dive Mask with direct connection to Snapchat. A shipping company, Royal Caribbean designs Dive Mask called SeaSeekers. This Dive Mask utilizing Snapchat’s Spectacles to connect directly to Snapchat. By using SeaSeekers, a diver can dive and immediately record the natural beauty of the underwater and then upload it to Snapchat.
“The Seaseeker will enable all adventure-seekers to get a front-row seat to the thrilling adventures found underwater in a way that has never been possible before,” explains Chief Marketing Officer at Royal Caribbean International, Jim Berra. “Snapchat continues to be a favorite channel for curious travelers and is the ideal platform for this first-of-its-kind undersea exploration.”
How SeaSeekers works?
The prototype of SeaSeekers uses a 3D-printed plastic adapter that serves to mount the Snapchat Spectacles inside the mask, which positions the camera for a wide angle view. A magnet button mounted outside the mask that can be used to start recording video. The video can be shot in HD, underwater audio records and syncs via Bluetooth and WiFi.
SeaSeekers can last for up to 30 minutes underwater, and reach 150 feet below the surface. As we know that Spectacles connect directly with Snapchat on iPhone or Android, so does the diver also have to carry their phone while diving? Or whether the recorded video is stored in the new Spectacles while diving and then imported into Snapchat.
Currently SeaSeekers is nused by Royal Caribbean in several dive opportunities in Mexico. SeaSeekers is newly available for Royal Caribbean guests. No information on whether this product will be mass-produced or just for rent by Royal Caribbean.
